It is the Mission of the Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada to promote mutual understanding, respect, appreciation and cooperation among people of various faith and cultural communities in Southern Nevada and in the world as a whole by appreciating the sacred, extending hospitality, offering educational opportunities, encouraging compassionate leadership, sharing in service and working for justice.

Programs of the Interfaith Council of So. NV


Monthly Meetings

Every second Tuesday of the month we hold a monthly meeting from 11:30am – 12:30pm. We alternate our Interfaith Monthly Meetings from Community Lutheran Church and the Baha’i Center of Las Vegas. The goal of the meeting is to get to know one another and keep in touch. All are welcome to attend.

Camp Anytown Las Vegas

Camp Anytown is a nationally recognized, award-winning, 45 year-old training program for youth in leadership skills, human relations, and diversity. The goal of Camp Anytown is to foster an environment in which education, dialogue, and interaction among the delegates results in increased self-esteem, mutual respect, understanding, and acceptance of all cultures, ethnic groups, faith/religions, and genders. Two camps are offered per year, in the Fall and in the Spring, at no cost to the attendees.

Fall Interfaith Forums

The Interfaith Forums take place in the Fall and are geared to educate the public, build friendship and gain a greater understanding and awareness of the diverse faith traditions represented in Southern Nevada. In a world torn apart by religious misunderstanding, the goal of the Interfaith Forums is to provide an experience where people can hear different religions’ perspectives in an environment of mutual respect.

Mayors Prayer Breakfast

The Mayors Prayer Breakfast is an annual fundraiser held to benefit Camp Anytown. The goal of the breakfast is to bring education and hope to our future generation. Mayors representing the areas of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Mesquite, Henderson and Boulder City, as well as County representatives, participate. More so, the Breakfast welcomes students from area high schools to join in the inter-generational celebration.

Thanksgiving Service

The annual Thanksgiving Service takes place on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and is a special time for members of different faiths to come together in the spirit of gratitude. We rotate to different houses of worship each year and have held the service at Community Lutheran Church, the Gurdwara Baba Deep Singh Ji and Congregation Ner Tamid. The 2014 Thanksgiving Service will take place at Congregation Ner Tamid.

International Day of Peace

On Sunday, September 21, 2014, millions of people around the world will participate in activities, events, concerts and festivals to celebrate the International Day of Peace. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1981, “Peace Day” is an opportunity for individuals, organizations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date.

Nevada Institute for Spirituality and Health

A chapter organization of the Texas Institute for Spirituality and Health, the mission of the Nevada Institute for Spirituality and Health is to create and disseminate knowledge of the role spirituality plays in health and healing, recognizing that humans are spiritual beings and, therefore, spirituality plays a vital role in healing and in maintaining optimal health.
