In-person and online Book Club – studying Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman – Thurman suggests a reading of the Gospel that recovers connection with the poor and the disenfranchised.  He argues that Jesus’s life of suffering, pain, and overwhelming love is the solution to guide us towards a vision of unity.  As Bishop Bartose of Chicago said, “If we want to work for the benefit of the poor we have to be worshipping Jesus.  If we want to face the darkness and the violence in our society without getting tired or angry or cynical or apathetic, we have to be going to Jesus.”

Saturday, January 28  9:00 – Noon  | Faith offering suggested:  $5-10.

Prayer is often thought of as “talking with God” and meditation as “listening to God”.   The teaching this month will introduce various ways to meditate and how to create a meditation practice.    We will also be learning about the ancient practice of labyrinth walks as form of meditation.  Grace has both an outdoor and indoor labyrinth which we will use depending on the weather.  The outdoor labyrinth is always available to walk.
